Center Mission
The Cleveland-Region Interprofessional Area Health Education Center (CRI-AHEC) is hosted by Cleveland State University (CSU) and serves the following five counties: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina. CRI-AHEC partners closely with the CSU School of Nursing and CSU-NEOMED for the recruitment, education, and placement of health professions students.
CRI-AHEC partners with area entities to positively impact communities with disproportionate health disparities. The center facilitates an interprofessional approach, with opportunities for health professions students and professionals to enhance their cultural competency by providing community-based health education and services to these disadvantaged communities in need.
Additionally, CRI-AHEC develops programming that recruits students from the greater Cleveland area into a variety of health professions, via specialized pathway initiatives, established pipeline programs, and connecting with collegiate cooperatives.
CRI-AHEC coordinates educational activities in community settings for area health professions students based on the assessment of local resources, area health personnel needs and the interests of each community.
In addition, CRI-AHEC develops and enriches training opportunities for medical and pharmacy students, nursing, and other allied health professional students in interprofessional settings and provides workforce development health career pipeline programs for health professional training.
