Evaluating Muscle Pain During COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now lists muscle pain as one of several potential symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Richard Watkins, M.D., an infectious disease physician and associate professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, reminds Prevention magazine readers that there is a difference between exercise-induced muscle pain and COVID-19 muscle pain.

“The pain from working out tends to go away after a few hours, but can persist for days with COVID-19,” Dr. Watkins says.
