NEOMED Alumna and Leader of Ohio’s Department of Health Named as Keynote Speaker

Amy Stearns Acton, M.D. (’90), director of health for the Ohio Department of Health, has been named as the keynote speaker for the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber’s 2020 ATHENA Awards.

Dr. Acton was appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine to lead the Ohio Department of Health in 2019.

The Athena Leadership Award Program is an international initiative presented annually by local chambers of commerce, women’s organizations and universities.

Elisabeth Young, M.D. (’85), vice president for health affairs and dean of Northeast Ohio Medical University’s College of Medicine, was selected as the 2018 ATHENA Award recipient.
