Veterans to be Honored

A flag-raising ceremony to honor America’s military veterans will be held by the Future Military Physicians (FMP) at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9 by the flag pole in front of the main entrance to Northeast Ohio Medical University. The ceremony will last around 15 minutes and include a short speech on the importance of the flag.

From noon to 1 p.m. Monday, guest speaker and NEOMED alum Jeffery Hess, M.D., M.S., FACOEM (’91), will discuss how his military experience helped him to land a dream job as corporate medical director for General Motors. Hess’ presentation will be held in Ballroom A of the NEOMED Education and Wellness Center. Food will be provided for all staff and students who respond.

Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend. The event is being held on Monday because the University is closed for Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

FMP is an organization that prepares aspiring students interested in medical careers in the Army, Navy or Air Force. Civilian students and current officers of the Health Professions Scholarship Program are welcome to join.
