The Master Teacher Guild: Advancing teaching excellence
With a strategic focus on developing our people, NEOMED saw an opportunity to expand teaching excellence with the transformed Master Teacher Guild. Dedicated to promoting a culture of teaching excellence and innovation through advancements in pedagogy, scholarship and faculty development, the guild provides a forum for both peer-to-peer recognition and collaboration enhancing the experience of our faculty and learners.
Under the leadership of Eliot Mostow, M.D., M.P.H., chair, and Maria Ramundo, M.D., vice chair, the goals of the guild are to:
- Promote teaching excellence and scholarship to improve learning outcomes
- Improve learning outcomes of health professions students and residents
- Recognize teaching excellence of NEOMED faculty
- Develop transformational educational leaders through the advancement of pedagogical knowledge
To fulfill these goals, and to fit into the larger University faculty development plan, the guild will convene a committee within the guild to coordinate faculty development opportunities for members and other interested faculty. Opportunities may include, but are not limited to, an annual conference format event and periodic events that will support the needs of the members. In addition, members of the guild will plan and engage in development opportunities both on campus and at their clinical sites, if applicable.
