What constitutes an exceptional experience for a student? Many higher education institutions are looking to answer this question. At NEOMED, thoughtfully defining the exceptional student experience is bringing us an essential step closer to understanding and elevating student engagement and raising our standards to create truly transformational leaders.
Led by Sandra Emerick, Ed.D., Senior Executive Director of Academic Affairs and Student Services, and Sebastian Diaz, Ph.D., J.D., Associate Dean of Quality Initiatives, the Exceptional Student Experience working group – in tandem with it Lean Six Sigma Green Belt project – will consider the voice of the customer (VOC) and compare NEOMED’s standards of excellence with students’ critical-to-quality drivers. Analyzing that data will help the group to identify what students value the most in their educational experience.
While placing the highest priority on educating students and providing a diverse, inclusive and nurturing environment that values the individual strengths and unique needs of all its students, NEOMED strives to provide a compassionate, equitable, and supportive culture – one that holds students at the center of its work. The early efforts of the Exceptional Student Experience working group will engage stakeholders across the NEOMED community to contribute their insights and suggestions for improvement.
