AAMC Highlights NEOMED’s Remote Teaching with Standardized Patients
Being adaptable to change during a pandemic has brought national attention from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to the Wasson Center for Clinical Skills Training, Assessment, and Scholarship at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
NEOMED has been invited by the AAMC to speak Friday, April 17, about effective models and approaches to implementing remote Standardized Patient encounters into the medical school curriculum during the pandemic.
Holly Gerzina, Ph.D., senior executive director of the Wasson Center, will highlight the role of the Association of Standardized Patient Educators Standards of Best Practice and the collaboration of the Wasson Center SP Educators and staff with faculty, IT/AT, and leadership support.
Mariquita (“Kit”) Belen, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and course director of Principles of Clinical Medicine, will speak regarding her role as a course director to remain committed in preparing second-year students for clerkship despite the challenges of pandemic.
