Biography

I joined the Department of Biomedical Science in December 2024 as a professor of pharmacology and M2 program director.

Prior to this, I served as a professor of pharmacology and medical educator at Central Michigan University College of Medicine (CMED) for nearly seven years. During my tenure at CMED, I held several academic leadership roles, including co-directing two courses and serving as Vice Chair of the Curriculum Committee. These positions allowed me to make substantial contributions to curriculum development and the advancement of medical education programs.

I hold a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Egypt and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from East Carolina University in North Carolina. Additionally, I earned a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard University in Boston, and was awarded a distinguished faculty development fellowship in medical education at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.

My scholarly contributions to medical education include the design and publication of innovative clinical reasoning and value-based models, which have been successfully integrated into the curriculum at CMED. My research focuses on faculty development and the implementation of team-based learning (TBL) methodologies to enhance teaching practices. Through my work, I am dedicated to advancing the quality and impact of medical education by integrating evidence-based and innovative teaching strategies.
