Sangeetha Sethi, DMD, FAAPD
Assistant Professor of Specialty Dentistry
I grew up in New York City before moving to Steubenville, Ohio, where I developed a strong sense of community and passion for helping others.
I earned my dental doctorate degree with honors graduating in the top 5% of my class and received the nationally recognized ADA Award of Excellence for leadership, professionalism, and service as a student. In residency, I served as Chief Resident at the nation’s busiest and No. 1 ranked children’s hospital.
In 2000, I established a pediatric private dental practice in Canfield, where I cared for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special health care needs for 25 years. I was proud to have been the first Board-Certified Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in the Youngstown area.
After retiring, I now serve as the founding Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at NEOMED’s Bitonte College of Dentistry, mentoring future dentists and advancing evidence-based, compassionate pediatric oral health.
After earning my bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh with honors, I became a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Department of Anesthesia at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital. Working in conjunction with renowned Janssen Research Foundation, I was involved with the FDA Clinical Trial Study of the Safety and Efficacy of IV Methylnaltrexone in the Prevention of Opioid Induced Nausea and Vomiting in Postoperative Patients. This led to my interest in hospital perioperative procedures, including several additional publications comparing the antiemetic properties of Inapsine (Droperidol), Reglan (Metoclopramide), Ondansetron HCl (Zofran) and Decadron (Dexamethasone). This experience strengthened my appreciation for evidence-based medicine, as well as my desire to pursue the field of dentistry in hopes of combining scientific knowledge, clinical skills, and compassionate care to make a difference in patients’ lives.
