Eugene M. Mowad, M.D., FAAP, is the Vice Dean and the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Medicine. He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at NEOMED and additionally serves as a pediatric hospitalist at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, OH.

Dr. Mowad received his BA degree in Biology with a minor in Music, summa cum laude, from
Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA, followed by his MD degree, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and continued on to serve as Chief Resident in Pediatrics at the same institution.

He joined the NEOMED faculty in 1994 and has served as a program director for the Pediatric Residency at Tod Children’s hospital and as the Director of Medical Education at both Northside Hospital and at Akron Children’s Hospital before transitioning to his current position.

He has received numerous Golden Apple awards for his teaching and has been recognized for distinguished service at both Northside and Akron Children’s Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Master Teacher with the NEOMED Master Teacher Guild.
