Kristen Knepp, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine
I am an Associate Professor of Family & Community Medicine specializing in medical education, communication skills, and social/behavioral sciences. I serve as Course Director of Practice of Medicine 1, 2, and 3, which span the entire M1 year. I am an active member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) and received the New Faculty Scholar distinction in 2024. I have also been a member of NEOMED’s Master Teacher Guild since 2023. I lead curriculum development in clinical interviewing, motivational interviewing, and communication skills training. While my primary appointment is in the College of Medicine, I have taught topics such as emotional intelligence and motivational interviewing in the College of Graduate Studies and Bitonte College of Dentistry. Additionally, I teach in the areas of evidence-based medicine and reflective practice. My scholarly work focuses on integrating patient-centered communication, behavioral sciences, and health equity into medical training.
