Bio

I’m a NEOMED grad (1986) and a practicing child and adolescent psychiatrist with over thirty years of experience in teaching and clinical practice. I led a multidisciplinary child and adolescent mental health group practice serving children and families in Chagrin Falls for 27 years.

For much of my career, I maintained activity within the community mental health system as Medical Director (and later, Transitional Medical Director) of a large mental health agency in Stark County serving children and families. More recently, I worked for several years under grants from the Stark County MHAR Board and a local foundation designing and implementing a strategy for improving access to psychiatric care for children and teens in the county. I’m currently providing staff training and development to prescribers serving in Stark MHAR-funded agencies under a new grant from the Board.

Area of Expertise/Research Interests

My research experience has focused upon evaluation of medications commonly prescribed to children and teens for ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders and schizophrenia. I’ve had the opportunity to present my work at over 35 national and international medical conferences. Our practice was active in the Child and Adolescent Practical Trials (CAPTN) Network, based out of Duke University and funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

I’m a past-President of the Northeast Ohio Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a long history of activity in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), having served three terms on the Academy’s Program Committee and New Research Subcommittee. I’m a past recipient (1999) of the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and was an invited participant in the White House Summit on Mental Health in December, 2019.
