Bio
- Private practice in general psychiatry in Wooster, Ohio since 1989.
- Has led the Department of Psychiatry Journal Club for NEOMED residents since 1991.
- Holds a commercial license for piloting hot-air balloons.
- Has taught chess for the Wooster schools since 1997.
- Served on statewide committees on addiction issues and on determining the pharmacological formulary for advanced practice nurses.
- Wife, Kathryn, is an outpatient pediatrician for Akron Children’s Hospital.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Helmuth provides psychiatric evaluations of pilots for the FAA. He, also, works as the psychiatric consultant for a residential treatment center for adolescent boys.
