Dr. Beach is the Chief Executive Officer of the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging. Throughout his career his focus has been advocating for elders at the federal, state and local levels. Beach previously worked as the Department of Aging’s Director of Programs and was named as Chief Executive Officer the Senior Resource Alliance located in Orlando, Florida.

Darrell L. McNairDarrell L. McNair, M.B.A., Vice Chair

Mr. McNair is the President and Chief Executive Officer of MVP Plastics, Inc., which is a custom injection molder, servicing the automotive, medical and recreational markets. Mr. McNair has also held marketing and finance positions at IBM and Ford and entrepreneurial ventures ranging from medical supply, home health care, construction and retail. McNair serves on numerous boards and community organizations, including the Playhouse Square Foundation, University Hospital, Cleveland Sports Commission and MAGNET. Mr. McNair earned a Master of Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University.

Sharlene Ramos ChesnesSharlene Ramos Chesnes

Ms. Chesnes is the Chief Executive Officer of InterChez Logistics Systems, Inc. She provides day-to-day leadership over a large and fast growing organization that offers direct and integrated supply chain and logistic solutions for middle market companies and large corporations. Ms. Chesnes is also an active member on several boards including Greater Cleveland Partnership, Summit Magazine and the Summit County Minority Health Department. In addition, Ms. Chesnes is an advisor to the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C.

William H. Considine, M.H.S.A.William H. Considine, M.H.S.A.

Mr. Considine serves as Chief Executive Officer Emeritus of Akron Children’s Hospital. He served with distinction as president and CEO for 40 years and dedicated both his career and personal life to improving pediatric care and the quality of life for children and families. He is one of the longest-tenured hospital chief executives in the country and is an internationally known advocate for issues affecting children’s health and well-being. Bill is a respected resource for policymakers in both Columbus and Washington, D.C.

Ms. McQueen is a director of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A. with a practice that focuses on mediation. Prior to engaging in mediation, she practiced litigation for more than 35 years, focusing on all aspects of employment-related litigation, as well as litigation relating to business, commercial, professional, nonprofit and director liability matters. McQueen has been an advocate for employers in State and Federal Courts, as well as the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.

Ward J. “Tim” Timken Jr., M.B.A.Ward J. “Tim” Timken Jr., M.B.A.

Ward J. “Tim” Timken, Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of McKinley Strategies. In his role, he is the managing partner of the general business-consulting portion of the firm and oversees and works across other functions of the business such as government affairs, political and grassroots. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. After his time at the Darden School, Mr. Timken opened and managed a Washington D.C. lobbying firm for Ohio-based lobbying firm McGough and Associates.

Phillip L. TruebloodPhillip L. Trueblood, Chair

Mr. Trueblood has over 50 years’ experience serving as an investment advisor and branch manager for several firms. He has extensive experience assisting individuals, corporations and nonprofit organizations reach their long-term financial goals. In addition, he has developed and managed long-term investment plans and is recognized as a leader in these areas.

Susan Tave Zelman, Ph.D.Susan Tave Zelman, Ph.D.

Dr. Zelman is the president of Zelman Education Consulting. She retired as the Executive Director, Superintendency at the Ohio Department of Education in 2018. She also served as senior vice president for education and children’s programming at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting where she developed policies and programs to integrate public service medial into a national reform education agenda. Gannett Newspaper named Dr. Zelman as one of the most powerful and influential women in Ohio state government. Dr. Zelman obtained her Ph.D. in education from the University of Michigan.

Omer S. AshrufOmer S. Ashruf

Mr. Ashruf is active in the community and holds several leadership positions in addition to his heavy academic workload as a rising third-year medicine student. He currently serves as chief outreach officer for the Salaam Free Clinic in Cleveland, where he provides strategic leadership to a team of medical students, clinic faculty and community partners. Mr. Ashruf was instrumental in securing funding from several organizations to open a satellite office in Solon and a new clinic space on the West Side of Cleveland. He also serves as a Future Leaders Council member for the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio where he works with legislators at the local, state and national levels to advocate on medical education and insurance reform. He has published several resolutions ranging from Medicare reimbursement to FDA regulatory processes.

Mr. Ashruf also holds many leadership positions at NEOMED, including the vice president and policy lead for the University’s American Medical Association chapter, president of the Oncology Interest Group, member of the Committee for Student Clinical Research and a course representative of the Student Curriculum Council. He is also an active member of several research labs at NEOMED and has co-authored 11 publications.

Olivia L. SafadyOlivia L. Safady

Ms. Safady is involved in many leadership positions at NEOMED, including course representative for the Patient, Physician, and Community 2 course to enhance student feedback and communication within the class. For the upcoming academic year, she will serve in several roles, including co-president of the American Medical Woman’s Association, Community Service Chair of the Family Medicine Interest Group, President of the Palliative Care Interest Group, and Vice President of the Preventative Health Interest Group. Safady previously served as a member of the events committee for NEOMED’s American Medical Association. She also served as the M1 representative in the Internal Medicine Interest Group, where she engaged with members of the class to gather information pertaining to their interests in internal medicine.

Ms. Safady graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and health sciences with a chemistry minor in May 2021 from Cleveland State University.
