NEOMED researchers funded by The Ohio State University/Ohio Department of Higher Education

Three NEOMED faculty researchers have been awarded support of $12,250 each from
The Ohio State University/Ohio Department of Higher Education for projects that were recently showcased in the final event of the 10-week I-Corps Ohio program – a 10-week initiative of the Ohio Department of Higher Education designed to train the scientific community in the commercialization process.

Patrick Kang, Ph.D., Takhar Kasumov, Ph.D., and Fayez Safadi, Ph.D., each served as a Principal Investigator (PI) on an I-Corps Ohio project. NEOMED’s I-Corps Ohio teams included interdisciplinary groups of students; NEOMED researchers; and REDIzone business incubator manager Elliot Reed, J.D.

The researchers and their projects are as follows:

Patrick Kang, Ph.D.
To support the project “A 96-well microplate adaptor to evenly distribute the heat and to improve fluorescence signal stability.”

Takhar Kasumov, Ph.D.
To support the project “Serum levels of glycated ApoAI, a novel biomarker to screen for pre-diabetes and diabetes and their cardiovascular complications.”

Fayez Safadi, Ph.D.
To support the project “Saccavi – Orthobiologic Filter System.”
