Bio

The majority of my early research related to pulmonary pathophysiology secondary to smoke inhalation, hemorrhage, Blunt trauma, or sepsis. In the early 2000’s, I established a multidisciplinary research focus group to collaboratively developed a liquid crystal based pathogen detection technology. That technology, with 15 related patents, is the basis for our development start-up company, Crystal Diagnostics Ltd. I am the Chief Scientist for the company and my research interest now focus on use of that technology to detect human pathogens.

Area of Expertise/Research Interests

Our current research relates to detection of microbial pathogens in various food matrices. Additional studies have demonstrated the capacity of the technology to detect the Ebola virus.
