NEOMED Alumnus and Thought Leader in Pandemic Planning: Rajeev Venkayya

As president of the global vaccine business unit for the Japan-based pharmaceutical company Takeda, Rajeev Venkayya, M.D. (’91), is in the midst of pandemic-related work – and has been for years.

While serving as the director for biodefense under U.S. President George W. Bush, the Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Medicine graduate led a team in creating the National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza*, issued in 2005.
