REDIzone® Future MedTech Entrepreneur Intern Recognized by University of Akron
The inaugural REDIzone® Future MedTech Entrepreneur Internship provided medical, pharmacy, business and law students, like third-year University of Akron School of Law student Rehan Peerzada, opportunities to learn from regional experts in medical innovation.
Supported by a grant from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, the new program provided Peerzada a six-week-long opportunity to learn get an inside look at bringing medical innovations to the market.
To bring the experience full circle, students presented actual inventions being developed at Northeast Ohio Medical University’s REDIzone®, which brings together researchers and private investors to commercialize products.
Peerzada and his partner pitched Osteoactivin, a protein that can be used for bone regeneration, developed by Fayez Safadi, Ph.D., director of NEOMED’s Musculoskeletal Research Focus Area and professor of anatomy and neurobiology.
