American Academy of Family Physicians Spotlights NEOMED Student

Oct. 6, 2017

Laura Yeater, a second-year College of Medicine student in the Rural Medical Education Pathway program, community service chair of NEOMED’s Rural Medicine Interest Group, and co-president of the American Academy of Family Physicians Family Medicine Interest Group, views primary care as her calling. Yeater, the recipient of a primary care education-for-service scholarship, Choose Ohio First, was recently featured in an interview by AAFP News.

“The big factor is finding a mentor in medical school or an individual in the community they can relate to. At NEOMED, we have a very strong family medicine department. The faculty carry great influence on a daily basis,” Yeater, pictured above with fellow second-year College of Medicine student Austin Poth, told AAFP.
