Calvin Muller joined NEOMED in November 2023 as a strategic initiatives analyst in the NEOMED Strategy Office, where he is part of a team that ensures the strategic plan is executed and on-track with the University’s goals and priorities. The Columbus, Ohio, native who now lives in Hudson is a recent graduate of Kent State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He recently shared a bit about himself with The Pulse.
What is your role at NEOMED?
I assist in creating action plans to advance the strategic plan, as well as doing some analysis to ensure efficiency in the execution of the plan.
What led you to NEOMED?
I saw the job opening, and heard good things from a previous employee, Jeri Jones.
What do you hope to accomplish in your new role?
I hope to make an impact on the strategy team, helping them optimize the ways in which we track our goals, and make sure that the goals that are most aligned with the University’s mission are accomplished. I hope to use my unique skills with data analytics to innovate new ways to understand what is happening in the University.
What inspired you to work in your profession?
Through various college classes, I really started to find an interest in data analysis.
What’s your favorite book or book you’ve been recommending lately?
My favorite book of all-time is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
What movie have you seen more than three times? What keeps you going back?
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is by far my favorite. I have easily watched it over 10 times, and each time I watch it there is something new to grab.
You’ve been invited a potluck. What’s your go-to dish?
If it’s a breakfast/brunch potluck, homemade cinnamon rolls.
What do you do better than anyone you know?
Pyrography [an ancient art where the main medium is heat]
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An actor
You’ve been handed a plane ticket to anywhere in the world. Where are you going? Why?
Australia. I love the outback, and the great coral reef would be amazing to see.
What’s the latest thing you crossed off your ‘bucket list’?
I’m not sure if I have a bucket list, but going backpacking in the Appalachians recently was a blast.
What’s the latest hobby you’ve engaged in?
Playing guitar.
