In this lecture, Dr. Dugan discusses the history of tobacco use and reviews the medications that may be effective for smoking cessation. In this lecture, Dr. Dugan examines features of lithium’s multiple mechanisms of action that might promote neuroprotection. By the end of this lecture, you will be able to: 1) identify potential targets associated with neuroprotection and 2) describe lithium’s actions on the neuroprotective targets.

In this lecture, Dr. Dugan takes a look at the risk profile of lithium and discusses ways to use it safely. By the end of this lecture, you will be able to: 1) list the indications for use of lithium, 2) identify short- and long-term adverse effects associated with lithium use, and 3) compare monitoring recommendations for patients on lithium.
