Meeting the Surge

The surge in COVID-19 cases that experts feared would happen following Thanksgiving travel has come.

Yahoo talked to hospitals around the country as they prepared to meet it.

One expert, Richard Watkins, M.D., an infectious disease physician and professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, said that his hospital system in Akron, Ohio “has plans in place on how to handle a surge, in terms of logistics related to staffing and where patients will go.”
