Bio
Dr. Prabodh Sadana Ph.D., is a pharmaceutical scientist with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Tennessee.
During his doctoral research, Dr. Sadana studied regulation of genes involved in fatty acid and glucose metabolism and the role of transcriptional coactivators in these metabolic pathways. As a post-doctoral fellow at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Dr. Sadana performed functional validation of hit compounds identified in high-throughput screening projects. In his faculty role at NEOMED since 2009, Dr. Sadana is both an educator as well as a researcher. Dr. Sadana has earned several accolades and honors in teaching and research including Teacher of the year award, Teaching innovation award, Best Paper Award from the Controlled Release Society, Research Fellowship from American Heart Association, and a patent on a novel compound with hypolipidemic property. Dr. Sadana has published several papers/abstracts and serves as reviewer for several research journals.
Area of Expertise/Research Interests
Dr. Sadana’s research interests lie in the area of hyperlipidemia/dyslipidemia. Using a combination of biochemical, pharmacological, and drug development approaches, Dr. Sadana studies disease mechanisms of hyperlipidemia as well as pursues development of novel small molecule drug therapies against it. Dr. Sadana also has interests in clinical aspects of hyperlipidemia research including predictive human biomarkers of efficacy and adverse effects of lipid therapy and clinical data analytics.
