Area Health Education Center
Welcome to Northeast Ohio Region III Area Health Education Center website! Commonly known as AHEC, our program serves a varieties of areas and individuals in northeast Ohio to help with enhancing health career opportunities. We work with the four consortium universities in various recruitment, training, and professional development activities. As you browse through our pages, you will find important information about the AHEC and the type of activities we do.
Four consortium universities; the University of Akron, Kent State University, Cleveland State University, and Youngstown State University, select students to receive their bachelor degree at their university and then they are automatically admitted into the Northeast Ohio Medical University to finish off their medical degree.
In addition, our AHEC program activities also include partnerships with Northeast Ohio Medical School’s Colleges of Pharmacy and Graduate Studies and other programs, such as the Master of Public Health, for clinical training opportunities in medically underserved areas.
