Optimal Pharmacotherapy for Schizoaffective Disorder

In this lecture, Dr. Dugan discusses medications that might be useful in treating schizoaffective disorder. By the end of this lecture, you will be able to: 1) describe the pharmacotherapeutic medications used for the treatment of schizoaffective disorder (SAD) and 2) compare the efficacy and safety data of different medications for the treatment of patients with SAD.

 

Hyperprolactinemia: The medications that can cause it and what can be done about it.

In this lecture, Dr. Dugan discusses medications that commonly cause hyperprolactinemia and presents options for management. By the end of this lecture, you will be able to: 1) list the causes of elevated prolactin levels, 2) identify symptoms associated with elevated prolactin levels, and 3) compare the impact medications commonly used for mental health conditions have on prolactin levels.

Drug Interactions with Psychiatric Medications

In this lecture, Dr. Dugan covers the basics of drug metabolism and highlights several important psychiatric drug-drug interactions that patients as well as prescribers should be aware of. By the end of this lecture, you will be able to: 1) compare pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic drug interactions and 2) identify relevant drug interactions with medications used in the treatment of mental illnesses.
