GET INVOLVED
The Journal of Medical Sciences at NEOMED has roles available for both students and for faculty/affiliate members.
Your participation will help us create a student-led journal of original medical research, opinion pieces, editorials, reviews, abstracts and other works.
Here is how to submit papers for consideration.
Below, we invite you to apply for leadership, review or compliance roles in the journal.
Management roles
Opportunities for students
Any NEOMED student is eligible to apply. Leadership positions extend for one year, starting and ending each fall.
Executive board members may submit their work to the journal; however, they will not have the ability to act as the reviewer or editor for their submission.

Position descriptions
Vice president(s)
Assist the president with manuscript journal duties, to review and provide feedback on articles, to assist with logistics of the journal regarding review, marketing, formatting, events and more
Editors
Compile all feedback from peer reviews, to review the assigned articles and to communicate necessary corrections with the author of the submitted article
Peer reviewers
Review the submitted articles, providing overall feedback and feedback on the document itself
Manuscript Writing Workshop coordinator(s)
Organize the monthly writing workshop, to select presenters, and assist with creating the curriculum
Production team members
Organize the layout of the journal; to find options for the cover page of the journal; to prepare the journal for final publication
Secretary
Record all meeting minutes; to write correspondences on behalf of the journal
Treasurer
Oversee the finances of the organization; to collect and distribute funds including those needed for journal distribution and journal events

Faculty Reviewer
Faculty/affiliate reviewer input is essential to the success of the NEOMED Journal of Medical Sciences. We so appreciate your interest in acting as a reviewer for the journal. If you complete the form below, you will be added to a reference list. Editors will use this list to search for faculty reviewers.
An editor may reach out to you to ask if you would be willing to review an article, including providing comments on the document itself and completing a reviewer worksheet.
By providing this information you are showing interest in being a reviewer however, you are not obligated to review articles sent to you and may decline. We are using this list to reach out to reviewers who have shown interest in the journal. Again, we appreciate your involvement in the NEOMED Journal of Medical Sciences, and we look forward to working with you.

Compliance Board Member
The NEOMED Journal of Medical Sciences Compliance Board is composed of faculty members and affiliates who will review our submissions for research compliance. This will include ethical consideration as well as requirements such as IRB, IACUC and Biosafety approval. This will be the initial step of the journal’s workflow. If you sign up for this position, we ask that you review 2-5 papers throughout the year.
