Search Process

As the academic year is underway at Northeast Ohio Medical University, the Presidential Search Advisory Committee is working to apprise its constituencies of efforts undertaken thus far, advise on plans for the fall, and express eagerness to receive any suggestions to enhance the process.

The search firm, Witt/Kieffer, first met in February 2019 with a large cross section of members from the Northeast Ohio Medical University community as well as members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee. One-on-one and small groups meetings were held to obtain input from students, faculty, staff and community members concerning the challenges that the University faces and the desired characteristics in NEOMED’s next President.

In addition, Witt/Kieffer has begun working on collating responses from these meetings, as well as developing its own list of characteristics vital to candidates for the NEOMED presidency. They have also worked with key academic leaders around the country to seek their advice and recommendations for the NEOMED search.

Looking forward, the Presidential Search Advisory Committee’s goal is to create a pool of viable candidates and to refine its focus on a smaller number of highly promising prospects who will be interviewed by the Executive Committee of the NEOMED Board of Trustees. This will include meeting with the candidates to gain a better insight on their skills and qualifications and how they align to NEOMED. We remain committed to the original timetable by submitting a candidate to the Board of Trustees and announcing a new President for NEOMED by Sept. 30, 2019.
