{"id":6234,"date":"2022-07-26T11:35:11","date_gmt":"2022-07-26T15:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.neomed.edu\/pharmacy\/?p=6234"},"modified":"2022-07-26T11:35:11","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T15:35:11","slug":"fourth-year-medicine-student-earns-amas-foundation-ohio-physicians-of-tomorrow-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.neomed.edu\/pharmacy\/news\/fourth-year-medicine-student-earns-amas-foundation-ohio-physicians-of-tomorrow-scholarship\/","title":{"rendered":"Fourth-year Medicine Student Earns AMA&#8217;s Foundation Ohio Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fourth-year medicine student <strong>Sanjay Jinka<\/strong> is a recipient of the 2022 American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation Ohio Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>According to the award notice, the $10,000 scholarship recognizes \u201cextraordinary medical students entering their fourth year of studies.&nbsp;The selection committee was extremely impressed by your scholastic, personal and professional accomplishments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jinka was nominated for the scholarship by <strong>Corrie Stofcho, M.D., FAAP<\/strong>, assistant dean of Student Affairs in the College of Medicine and clinical assistant professor of pediatrics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSanjay is a true leader amongst his peers and exhibits a high level of professionalism in both the academic and community setting,\u201d Dr. Stofcho wrote in her letter of recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>Jinka has shared those leadership skills as the CEO of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neomed.edu\/student-run-free-clinic\/\">Student-Run Free Clinic<\/a>, a NEOMED clinical initiative. He was also appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to serve as a member of the <a href=\"\/boardoftrustees\/\">NEOMED Board of Trustees<\/a>. In addition, he serves as incoming president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society and has been an active delegate and committee chair for NEOMED\u2019s AMA-MSS chapter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored to receive this recognition from the AMA Foundation,\u201d said Jinka, who is pursuing residency in plastic surgery. \u201cIt is a kind of validation that I\u2019m on the right track and it will help me continue to pursue leadership opportunities at NEOMED and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fourth-year medicine student Sanjay Jinka is a recipient of the 2022 American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation Ohio Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship.
