The College of Pharmacy is happy to announce that Katherine Tromp, PharmD has joined the NEOMED community as the new Senior Associate Dean of Education. Dr. Tromp joins us from the Lake Erie\u00a0<\/span>College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy in Bradenton,\u00a0<\/span>FL<\/span>, where she served as an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean of the Florida Pathway.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Tromp<\/span>\u00a0completed her undergraduate education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute where she received a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biochemistry and a\u00a0<\/span>double\u00a0<\/span>major in Scientific, Technical, and Professional Communications.\u00a0<\/span>She<\/span>\u00a0completed her\u00a0<\/span>Doctor of Pharmacy\u00a0<\/span>at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in Worcester, MA. While completing her pharmacy education, Dr. Tromp decided upon a career in pharmacy academia with the goal of finding ways to engage and excite students about the profession of pharmacy.\u00a0<\/span>To<\/span>\u00a0achieve this goal, she completed a PGY-1 residency with MCPHS and Walgreens where she was able to spend a substantial amount of time in the classroom developing her academic skills.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After<\/span>\u00a0her residency,\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Tromp<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>became<\/span>\u00a0a faculty member at LECOM where she\u00a0<\/span>took<\/span>\u00a0on a variety of leadership positions including Director of Student Services, Director of the Distance Education Pathway, and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Associate Dean of the Florida Pathway.\u00a0<\/span>She<\/span>\u00a0was highly involved with the implementation and execution of the Distance Education Pathway<\/span>\u00a0at the Florida campus<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>As the Associate Dean,<\/span>\u00a0she overs<\/span>aw<\/span>\u00a0the functioning of the School of Pharmacy on the Florida campus for LECOM<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>which involved\u00a0<\/span>overseeing the progression of<\/span>\u00a0500 students and\u00a0<\/span>supervising\u00a0<\/span>25 faculty and staff members.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked about what Dr. Tromp is most excited about at NEOMED, she mentioned, \u201c<\/span>I’m excited to bring my past experiences to NEOMED to continue to evolve the already outstanding program that the school has!\u00a0 I’m looking forward to meeting all of the students and working with the amazing faculty and staff. I’m also excited to experience seasons again after living in Florida for 10 years!\u00a0 I am excited about a lot of things!<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
