Categories: Research PrideCongratulations to Christine Dengler-Crish, Ph. D., assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences, for winning the 2018 junior faculty award!
Dr. Dengler-Crish was recognized by students for being passionate, organized, supportive, and kind. Her lab’s research mission is to identify “presymptomatic” brain changes in Alzheimer’s disease, glaucoma, and related brain disorders, interrogate the mechanisms behind these changes, and develop innovative targets for therapeutic intervention. Dr. Dengler-Crish’s research combines classic neuroanatomical, neuropharmacological, and comparative approaches with innovative new technology, and her lab’s methods include neuronal tract tracing, immunofluorescence, epifluorescent wide-field and confocal microscopy, advanced protein quantification techniques, and high-throughput bone densitometry.
Dr. Dengler-Crish was also recently awarded funding from Prevent Blindness to support her new project titled, “Investigating the neuroprotective effects of fingolimod on visual system deficits in Alzheimer’s disease,” alongside research assistant Gabrielle Frame.
