Residency Preparation

NEOMED’s pharmacy residency track is a four-year program to prepare incoming pharmacy students to apply for and secure a residency following graduation. Activities range from attending residency information sessions, shadowing pharmacy residents, attending local and regional conferences and more.

First-Year Pharmacy Student Track
Required

Fall

  • Lunch Meeting/Discussion: “Residency 101”
  • Residency Information Night

 

Spring

  • Assignment: Interview a current or former (within five years) pharmacy resident
  • Lunch Meeting/Discussion: “Practitioner Interview Follow-Up”

 

Recommended
  • OSHP Residency Showcase (Fall)
  • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Residency Showcase (Fall)
Second-Year Pharmacy Student Track
Required

Fall

  • Lunch Meeting/Discussion: “Becoming a Competitive Candidate”
  • Residency Information Night

 

Spring

  • Assignment: Shadow a pharmacy resident and submit a reflection paper

  • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Residency Showcase (Fall)
Third-Year Pharmacy Student Track
Required

Fall

  • Lunch Meeting/Discussion: “Establishing a Residency Search Plan and Timeline”
  • Residency Information Night

 

Spring

  • Assignment: Shadow a pharmacy resident and submit a reflection paper

  • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Residency Showcase (Fall)
  • Residency Preparation Elective (Spring)
Fourth-Year Pharmacy Student Track
Required

Fall

  • “Residency Boot Camp”
  • Submit CV for review
  • Submit letter of intent for review

 

Recommended
  • Residency Information Night (Fall)
  • OSHP Residency Showcase (Fall)
  • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Residency Showcase (Fall)
  • Preparation in Fourth-Year Pharmacy/Resident Mentee Program

Statement of completion will be awarded by Dec. 1 of P4 year for all participants that complete a minimum of 10/13 of the required activities
