These committees shall make decisions where appropriate, develop policy, and provide recommendations to the leadership committee of the College.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty are appointed to standing committees by the Nominating and Membership committee through a yearly nomination process that takes place from May through June. The Nominating and Membership Committee reviews faculty nominations to determine the best candidates to serve in open positions on standing committees.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty have the opportunity to serve on a number of standing committees:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Admissions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of every month, generally via Zoom (July and January are in person, weather permitting) from 2:30 &#8211; 5 p.m. (July is a \u00be day retreat). Attendance is expected and bylaws do allow for removal of a member for poor attendance. The COM Admissions Committee is charged with creating and following processes to ensure matriculating an M1 class fit for the mission of the college and university and in compliance with the LCME and higher education admissions laws. In addition, during the interview cycle, the committee will be broken into two groups. A file review group is tasked with reading and scoring candidate files. The expectation is three files per week (about 1 hour per week) for about 20-24 weeks. Those on the interview team will be asked to provide twelve half-day (3-hour) slots over a 6\u20137-month period during the interview season to conduct and score candidate interviews. For those who are part of the NEOMED Faculty Workload Policy, both interviews and file reviews provide credit toward service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Committee on Academic Progress and Professionalism Phase 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meets for four hours once a month. Specific date and time influenced by committee members\u2019 availability. The CAPP Phase 2 Committee is responsible for tracking the academic progress of all students enrolled in the M.D. degree program at NEOMED.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Curriculum Committee<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The curriculum committee meets for 2-3 hours monthly and has ultimate decision-making and policy-making authority for the design, content, administration and evaluation of the curriculum, including its individual modules and segments.\u00a0This purview includes oversight of integration and continuous quality improvement. Meetings include the option for remote attendance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Non-Tenure Faculty Appointment and Promotion<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meets 4-5 times per year, with the highest volume being in the fall semester. The committee evaluates credentials, education, and research portfolio of applicants for appointment and promotion without tenure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nominating and Membership<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meets 1-3 times in person per year, plus multiple email\/online correspondences, with the highest volume being May-June. This committee evaluates and proposes members for the other standing committees in the College of Medicine.
