Life

Securian Insurance Company

This is a term insurance policy offering basic Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage to the employee.  This coverage is equal to two times your annual base earnings rounded up to the next higher $1,000.  Maximum coverage level is $100,000.

Cost

Basic Life/AD&D is provided to all eligible staff at no cost. Employer pays entire premium.

Supplemental Life Insurance

This is additional term life insurance.  An employee may elect to increase their coverage to 1X Annual Earnings (if over $100,000), 2X Annual Earnings (if over $100,000), 3X Annual Earnings, 4X Annual Earnings, or 5X Annual Earnings.  Please note the maximum coverage for Life Insurance is $1,000,000.  Any coverage over $500,000 requires evidence of insurability.

Cost

Employee pays any premium over the University provided coverage.

Dependent Life Insurance

Our program also offers Dependent Life Insurance for your spouse and/or eligible dependents.  You may cover your spouse only or a child only or both.  Two tiers are available:

  • $10,000 for your spouse; $5,000 for each dependent child
  • $5,000 for your spouse; $2,500 for each dependent child

Cost

Premiums are 100% paid by employee and are taken on a pre-tax basis.
