Campus-based Financial Aid
Generous donors & low-interest rate loans help you finance your education
NEOMED receives a limited amount of money each year for the campus-based financial aid program. Aid consists of scholarships and grants, and loans available through the NEOMED Foundation, as well as low-interest rate subsidized loans through the Department of Health and Human Services.
Need-based Scholarships & Grants
How much aid you receive depends on your financial need, on the amount of other aid you receive, and on the availability of funds at NEOMED. Campus-based programs provide a certain amount of funds to administer each year. When the money for a program is gone, no more awards can be made from that program for that year. So, make sure you apply for federal student aid as early as you can. The deadline for your application is March 15.
Merit-based Scholarships & Grants
Merit-based scholarships and grants are awarded through the NEOMED Foundation and differ slightly from need-based. Recipients of merit-based awards must demonstrate criteria such as high academic success a strong commitment to serving the community through volunteerism.
Private individual donations to the NEOMED Foundation to provide need-based loans for third and fourth-year medicine students. Interest-free while in school and during a 3-month grace period. Repayment begins 3 months after graduation or withdrawal. 5% interest at time of repayment for most loans – the Taggert loan is at 0%. The FAFSA and campus-based aid application are required along with both student and parent information on the FAFSA, unless the student qualifies for an exemption.
