Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday but it is also observed in other parts of Latin America and in the U.S. It is a time for family and friends to come together to remember and honor their loved ones that have passed.
The Latino Medical Student Association invites the entire NEOMED community to be a part of this special holiday! Beginning October 22 and running through November 2, visit the Inclusivity Center to checkout our Day of the Dead decorations, educational presentation, and best of all, the ALTAR! It is tradition to set-up an altar that includes a framed picture of the deceased as well as food or other items that they enjoyed while they were alive. Contribute to the altar by honoring anyone important to you that has passed (including pets!) for a chance to win a free, Blue-Ray DVD of the Disney animated film, “Coco”, which commemorates this holiday. Please write your name and email on the back of the item you contribute so we may return it to you at the end of the celebration.
But wait, it gets better! Visit our table outside of the Watanakunakorn Auditorium or the Inclusivity Center on Monday, October 29, from noon to 1 p.m. to try a free slice of “Pan de Muerto” (Bread of the Dead), a delicious sweet bread that is traditionally baked for this holiday.
