Types of Financial Aid
Scholarships, grants & loans for medicine, pharmacy & graduate students
There are several basic types of financial aid available to help make your education affordable; scholarships, grants and student loans. In addition to federal or state grant opportunities available, NEOMED offers a campus-based aid program in order to provide additional low-cost options and solutions for our students to advance their education.
Campus-Based Financial Aid
NEOMED receives a limited amount of money each year for the campus-based financial aid program. Aid consists of need-based scholarships and grants, and loans available through the NEOMED Foundation, as well as low-interest rate subsidized loans through the Department of Health and Human Services.
Scholarships & Grants
Scholarships and grants don’t have to be repaid and can be awarded based on a number of criteria. Selection of scholarship and grant awards can be made on demonstrated financial need, field of study, academic merit, and participation in a specific program, activity or organization, or a combination of the above.
Student loans are a self-help aid that must be repaid. NEOMED offers federal and institutional loans as part of a student’s financial aid award after reviewing eligibility for grants and scholarships.
International students are no eligible for federal student aid. However, there are a number of different alternatives for funding your education. International students who require a student loan will need to secure a loan with a private student loan lender; lenders will require a loan cosigner who is a U.S. citizen to be approved.
Financial Aid for Military Service
Branches of the military provide resources and financial aid for active duty members of the military, reservists, and veterans that are thinking of applying to or currently enrolled in medicine or pharmacy school, or pursuing a graduate degree.
Students who wish to utilize their Veterans Benefits or survivor benefits should contact Michael Kempe, Director of Financial Aid and VA School Certifying Official for additional details on the process to access your benefits.
