Office of Geriatrics

The mission of the Office of Geriatrics is to improve the quality of life of older adults through excellence in education of students, faculty and health practitioners in northeast Ohio. Through scholarship, research, and community service, the office strives to advance the knowledge and practice of geriatrics.

Office faculty members work closely with colleagues in the humanities, bioethics and interprofessional clinical specialties to assure a holistic, team-based approach to care of older adults. Educational offerings include wellness and health promotion as well as clinical care that incorporates the older individual’s goals and values.

Building Caregiver Partnerships

Co-produced with Summa Health System to sensitize and enlighten students, health professionals, and the community to the rewards and the responsibilities of family care giving of an elder family member through a chronic and terminal illness. Families share their care giving stories, their challenges, their rewards and their advice to other families and to health care professionals.
