Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology
The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology is committed to excellence in education, research, and service to our institution, our region and state, and the broader biomedical community.
The departmental chair is Jeffrey J. Wenstrup, Ph.D., Professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology.
Research and Graduate Education
Research in the department is focused in the areas of Auditory Neuroscience and Skeletal Biology. In each focus area, our faculty emphasize a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to research and training at the graduate and postdoctoral levels.
Members of our faculty have primary teaching responsibilities in courses offered during the first year of medical and pharmacy professional education: Human Development and Structure, Human Structure for Pharmacy, and Brain Mind and Behavior. We also contribute to teaching throughout the medical curriculum.
Body Donation Program
As part of our commitment to professional education, the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology supervises NEOMED's Body Donation Program. Through the Body Donation Program, generous individuals can make arrangements to donate their bodies after death for the purpose of educating students in the health professions.
Departmental faculty are active in service to NEOMED and beyond, contributing to biomedical and scientific education in northeastern Ohio and consulting on scientific issues at the national and international levels.
