"My passion for service and my desire to create lasting relationships have been instrumental in my professional development as a future health care provider."Philip King, Student, College of Pharmacy
In August 2010, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) adopted a five-year Strategic Plan developed to reflect its Mission, Vision and Values, and to chart its future. The 2010 Strategic Plan was based on the previous University Strategic Plan, the Northeast Ohio Universities Collaboration and Innovation Study Commission Report, and the Ohio Chancellor’s Strategic Plan. Six strategic goals and related action steps were identified to describe the core directions for NEOMED over the next five years, acknowledging the challenges posed by the changing economic environment.
During the past two years, the University has made significant progress in accomplishing its strategic goals. The partnership with Cleveland State University and the “Education for Service” initiative are two of many examples for the successful implementation of the Strategic Plan. While continuing to provide excellent training for its students, the University developed new programs and initiatives congruent with its mission. With a new name, NEOMED started developing its brand as a premier health sciences university that serves the needs of citizens in Northeast Ohio and throughout the state and nation.
The economic volatility and constantly changing landscape of higher education and health care called for a review and update of the University Strategic Plan. The NEOMED leadership is currently seeking input from numerous stakeholders to update the 2010 Strategic Plan so that it reflects the present educational and fiscal environment and outlines the University priorities for the remainder of the five-year period.
